ACTIVATE AMERICA & PIONEERING HEALTHIER COMMUNITIES
Activate America is the YMCA’s response to our nation’s growing health crisis. The YMCA is redefining itself and engaging communities across the country to better support Americans of all ages who are struggling to achieve and maintain well-being of spirit, mind and body. We are shifting how we focus all aspects of our work both inside and outside the YMCA to better engage health seekers. We define “health seekers” as all children, youth, teens, adults and families whose successful pursuit of health and well-being requires continuously supportive relationships and environments. Inside the YMCA, we are influencing and motivating health seekers to make positive changes in their pursuit of well-being. And, outside the YMCA, we are helping create and sustain healthier communities.
Through Pioneering Healthier Communities, YMCAs in 64 selected communities across the country (including the Raritan Valley YMCA) have engaged teams represented by key community stakeholders (including hospitals, schools, local businesses and foundations) to develop strategies, including policy and environmental change approaches, that reduce barriers and increase support for healthy living in local communities. This dedication on a national level translates to the work we do every day at our Y helping members and their families get and stay healthy.
NJ YMCAS AND LOCAL YMCA RECIPROCITY
As part of the NJ YMCA Alliance members of our YMCA may visit any YMCA statewide up to 5 times per month for free. And, as part of a reciprocity agreement between the Raritan Valley YMCA, the South Brunswick YMCA and the Raritan Bay YMCA (Perth Amboy & Sayreville) our members may use these other facilities at any time for free.
Child Watch is a free service of our fitness department available to wellness center members. Child Watch hours are Monday through Friday 9:00am-12:00pm and 3:30pm-7:00pm, weekend hours have been temporarily suspended until further notice.
