THE YMCA'S DEDICATION TO HEALTHY KIDS
The YMCA is dedicated to providing children with the opportunity to play, learn, and grow in a safe environment. Today's youth are not afforded the opportunities to play as were previous generations. With the increase in screen time and sedentary activities children today are less healthy than just a generation before. YMCA youth programs are focused on providing children with the chance to learn new skills, practice what they have learned and be physically active while having fun. A major focus as been placed on decreasing screen time, increasing physical activity and improving nutrition knowledge.
YOUTH SPORTS AND FITNESS PROGRAMS
The YMCA offers a variety of sports and fitness programs appropriate for all ages and families. Each session is 7 weeks long with one class per week. Classes are progressive, introducing a new skill each week and reinforcing skills already introduced. Classes are non-competetive and presented in a fun and exciting way to maximize learning and interest. Our hope is to create excitement and interest while providing the basic skills so that children will gain a life-long love of sport and physical activity.
